Taco-f the Town with No Salad Eatin' Chix

Tacos are really a way of life

from Left to right: Jessica @_lifeofuno and Cyn of @Nosaladeatinchix

Raise your glasses and unbutton your pants people,  we have some very important things to taco bout.  In honor Taco Tuesday and the upcoming Cinco de Mayo holiday, what better way to celebrate by counting down some of the best taco spots in Dallas? I have my own opinion about the best of the best but for this one I decided to reach out to the experts and get their views on who has some of the best tacos around town. I made the hot line bling of two ladies that are even more serious about food than I am, local Dallas food bloggers and YouTuber's @Nosaladeatinchix. These foodie gals are taking on Dallas, and maybe even the world, one bite at a time.

The dynamic duo of Jessica, who happens to be my line sister (hey girl hey), and her roommate Cyn took their deep passion for food and even deeper friendship to the next level by creating their Instagram and YouTube page dedicated to their foodie adventures around town and internationally.  I've been to brunch, lunch, and dinner with them several times and their name is not just a statement but an actual way of life. I may or may have not got yelled at while brunching for ordering a salad instead of chicken and waffles and banned from ordering for myself for a few occasions.  There really are no salads nor any chix that eat them allowed at the table.

Having eaten at an endless amount of taco spots in Dallas, here are the No Salad Eatin' Chix top picks for tacos around Dallas. Also check out some Cinco de Mayo specials to ensure you are celebrating this weekend the right way:

  1.  Fuel City Tacos

Brand new to Dallas or been here for several years, it doesn't matter. You know Fuel City.  This was the first place that Jessica has ate "street tacos" and has been obsessed ever since then. "It's a great one stop shop," she says. "You ca eat, get gas, and wash your call all at the same spot." I'm a fan of efficiency so I second this motion.

     2. Velvet Tacos

If I was reincarnated as a bougie ass taco it would be at Velvet.  A little more expensive than your street taco style bites, $1.62 vs $4.95+, these are larger, more upscale tacos boasting tastes such as buffalo chicken, falafel, and Annatto shredded pork.  Cyn's faves are the flank steak, chicken tikka masala, and the shrimp and grits. As a pro tip, don't skip out on the red velvet cake. It's a winner.

    3. Taco Deli

The only negative the ladies can find about this place is that they close at 3. Taking it a step up above just men tacos, they also have soup, rice and beans, and other sides as well.  As a bonus, the restaurant only uses the freshest ingredients that are organic, responsibly sourced, and locally bought when possible. Both ladies are fans of the Pollo Fantastico which is a shredded chicken taco with roasted green chile sauce and crema Mexicana. If you want to veer off the menu and get something that only real Taco Deli goers know about, order the Cowgirl Carne Asada.

   4. Taqueria La Ventana

Cheap tacos and strong drinks make this a pick for the chix. They don't have one particular favorite because they love everything, especially the corn. Outside of the great food, the ambiance makes this place a hit.

   5. R Taco

Also known as Rusty Taco, they have locations places around the DFW Metroplex and in four other states that make up their 22 total restaurants. Try out the #8 Baja Shrimp or #10 Fried Chicken Taco.
