The Life of Pablow
When a person hears an event with 200 people, it is easy to think a conference. Hearing two hundred people paints the assumption that it might even be a wedding or a formal ball. What doesn't come to mind for most people is a trip to South America. For the 210 people that went, that is what exactly it was.
In a similar fashion in that of our trip to UAE, one person happened to see a great flight deal and spread the word. However, this time there was an exception and her name is Christina. Having gone to Spellman and living in major cities, her social circle is vast and wide. What a few of us thought was going to be a 15 person Memorial Day Weekend trip turned into a massive bi-costal meet up of Young Black Professionals.
Previous members of the UAE groups from #GlitchGang, #LitUAEtion, and #150UAEvenknowit and friends emerged in Colombia. Traveling from city to city and turning up as we went. Young Black Professionals went to Cartagena, Medellin, and Bogota. ATVs in Pablo's countryside, paragliding, art tours, and playing in volcano mud were at the top of our lists. As a group, we donated money to a local organization for children that had been abandoned by their families or taken by the government due to unsafe living situations.
In terms of our group, an international trip isn't complete without renting a yacht. We were able to purchase the largest one that we could find that included copious amounts of cognac, vodka, and champagne. The national anthem Swag Surf played as we sat under the sun wishing this moment would never end.
What we didn't know is that this trip would continue on from city to city and country to country. We often travel with one another to festivals, events, and other countries. We achieved what many people said wasn't possible. We did things that we didn't even think were possible. Without a doubt, we are ready to run the world.
