2019 Food Holidays
If a person would name 50 food bloggers in Dallas right now my name would most likely not be one that came to mind; maybe not even in the top 100. I would agree it’s a space that I really don’t belong. It’s not necessarily what the kids these days would call “my thing.” However, what I am is a purveyor of all things food and drink. I often find myself connecting to people through food. It’s almost a love language for me. (By almost means it is). From hole in the wall Cuban bistros in Miami to steak houses located at the top of luxury hotels in Dubai I’ve made it a goal to discover places to visit in whatever city, state, or country I am in.
Between Yelp, Instagram, and word of mouth I have been able to build an extensive list of restaurants and bars that I frequent or have sent people to, especially when there is a national food day being celebrated. It’s one of the best methods to find deal/special or to visit that one place you’ve been meaning to go but haven’t made your way there yet.
There happens to be hundreds of food holidays. Some are a waste of time, National Turkey Neck Soup day for example, while others should be celebrated from the mountain top like National Cookie Day, National Taco Day and National Whiskey Day to name a few.
I’ve not only compiled a list of some of my favorite food celebrations but also suggestions of where you can go to spend them. This does not encompass every place in Dallas but does give you a good starting point to celebrating the day of choosing. Check back frequently as updates will be made.
