BSIDE Worth Knowing Volume 6: The Designer of Sound

An avid music enthusiast & sound curator, Alexander x Great is a Chicago-based DJ with a passion for people and creating positive vibes.  Aside from performing, searching for new sounds, or practicing his craft at home, he spends his time consuming other artists' live shows and immersing himself in other forms of art.  

Aided by time spent playing the clarinet and saxophone as a young child, Alexander grew up in a very musically-influenced home. After deciding to focus on other hobbies, Alexander stayed in tune with various genres of music - ranging anywhere from hip-hop, soul, and R&B, to jazz, indie rock, deep house, & bops from all over Latin America, the Caribbean, & Africa. You can hear his varying interests flow through the tracks he blends together.

What you may not know about Alexander:

Whether you catch me in a suit on a weekday between 9 and 5, or you run into me in a throwback hockey jersey and some J's any given night at a concert, art show, or bar - neither one defines me.  I'm  much more than a label or an appearance, and I pride myself on not letting any one facet of my life be the defining aspect.  As a result I continually strives to let my passions outside of my "9-to-5" shine and not be cast as a monolith.

Alexander is continually developing his sound in search of setting a positive mood & deep, hypnotic groove for whoever experiences his sets or mixes.  At the end of the day it's all about bringing people together through the power of music & spreading
