CNK Daily + Bud Light: Friendsgiving
So you're telling me I am going out, eating, AND get to wear sneakers? Sign me up.
Truth be told Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Outside of me being able to throw my diet out the window and living in pure gluttony and sloth-like form, sharing food with people you care about is a form of love to me. It is much more than an act but an entire experience especially when you are with friends. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to have dinner with fellow Dallas power women in our favorite sneakers.
Channing, founder and creative director of the women's sneaker lifestyle and empowerment brand CNK daily invited some of her favorite friends to partake in a Friendsgiving style dinner. The brand teamed up with Bud Light for a night of good drinks and even better company as guests connected with one another over a smorgasbord prepared by local Chef Gabrielle McBay.
We were shuttled to a private location downtown that was nothing short of amazing. After a brief cocktail hour with Dallas Mavs DJ Poizon , guests sashayed up the stairwell to a gorgeous layout of long tables, florals, and candlelight. As a fan of Chef McBay's food, I can once again say that it was nothing short of amazing. We dined on a buffet of chicken, turkey, mashed potatoes and lobster mac and cheese to give you an example of how well we ate. As a #tidbitt about me I can not eat shelflfish but that day I was ready to risk it all just for the mac and cheese. *drifts off staring into space*
Outside of the excellent dinner and drinks CNK daily provided us the opportunity to party with a purpose. Each of the attendees was asked to bring a pair of gently used sneakers to donate to local non-profit Turning Paiges. Founded by Tristen Paige, she saw the need to help her community by touching the souls and soles of many by collecting shoes for the homeless.
In correlation with the theme of giving, each of us received a word and #tidbitssofadvice from the author, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker Phoebe Lovatt. She gave us her #chickspiration and story of how she got her Girl Boss on. We were each given a copy of her latest read The Working Woman's Handbook.
We were each escorted upstairs to the rooftop for the dessert portion as well as to connect with one another on a deeper level. We were each asked to think of a word that comes to mind with friendship and explain what it meant for us.
I chose the word transparency. For me, as a friend, I want to feel comfortable with the people in my life to tell them how I am feeling or my thoughts with no fluff or b.s. and vice versa. No judgments, no talking down to. Just transparency. Some of the other words or phrases chosen were loyalty, honesty, presence, and prayer.
What we were given that night both intangible and tangible was on time for me in this season of life. It is a daily fight to be a better person but at times harder to be a better friend. I loved that I was given the opportunity to not only meet and communicate with other women but more so learn from them. Thank you to Chan-Lo and the CNK Daily for having me. I will never forget my seat at the table.
XO,
Brittany B
